Description
Position Summary
Technical Systems Integration (TSI) seeks a Senior-Level Advanced Tactical Training specialist with Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) expertise to support the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) at the Surface Advanced Warfighting School (SAWS) in San Diego, CA. This senior role leads advanced tactical training instruction, curriculum development, and performance analysis for surface warfare forces, with primary focus on IAMD operations and Aegis Weapon System employment.
Essential Functions
Advanced Tactical Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Support instruction in formal schoolhouse and classroom environments for WTI and SMWDC courses of instruction
- Provide technical and tactical expertise to support lecture delivery and update/revise course materials
- Develop, evaluate, and update curricula for SMWDC surface force mission areas (AMW, Surface ASW, IAMD, MIW, SUW, and C4I/MTN)
- Incorporate warfare principles to meet Navy Mission Essential Task List (NMETL) and Surface Force training objectives
- Ensure training materials comply with Navy curriculum standards and incorporate applicable doctrine and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)
Training Event Support & Evaluation
- Contribute, support, and evaluate advanced warfare training in shipboard (in-port) and classroom environments
- Support Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT), Integrated Air Defense Course (IADC), Force Air Defense Officer (FADO), AMW COI, and Sea Combat Commander (SCC) COI events
- Provide planning and administrative support to SWATT Lead Planners including Letters of Instruction (LOI) drafting, planning conference coordination, and OPAREA scheduling
- Conduct exercise control watchstanding during training events
Performance Analysis & Metrics Management
- Support performance analysis of surface ship tactical readiness through data collection and analysis of performance metrics
- Analyze SWATT, Live Fire With a Purpose, and Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) performance data
- Coordinate and execute Data Analysis Working Groups (DAWGs) and update Event Cards and Return on Investment (ROI) metrics
- Work directly with NSWC Corona and NUWC Keyport Det Pacific personnel to provide required analytical products
- Develop and provide performance analysis reports and briefings
Technical Documentation & Materials Development
- Evaluate existing training materials and procedures, making recommendations for technical accuracy and quality improvements
- Provide product graphics and technical writing to support style guides, lesson topic guides, and specialized briefings
- Develop operational and technical documentation supporting SMWDC training events
- Ensure adequate references, resources, and quality standards across all training materials
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 12+ years of military experience and/or relevant industry/government experience with surface navy combat systems, C5I, networks, and weapon systems (minimum 5 years must be military)
- 5+ years of experience aboard Navy cruisers, destroyers, or within qualified Department of Defense warfare areas
- Strike Group, Fleet, Major Training Command, or Systems Testing Command planning experience
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Qualified and experienced in watch stations with authority to employ Aegis Weapon System (Tactical Action Officer, Air Warfare Coordinator, or Battle Watch Captain)
- Must possess Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter or BMD Watch Officer qualification letter
Required Technical Skills:
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative assessment methods supporting war-fighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word)
- Knowledge of IAMD systems, Aegis Weapon System operations, and ballistic missile defense procedures
Required Competencies:
- Expert-level understanding of surface warfare tactics and IAMD operations
- Strong instructional design and classroom teaching capabilities
- Ability to develop and analyze complex performance metrics and training assessments
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) qualification in IAMD or related mission area
- Experience with advanced IAMD planning tools and systems
- Familiarity with Data Analysis Working Group (DAWG) processes and methodologies
Domain Knowledge:
- Experience with Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) planning and execution
- Knowledge of Navy Mission Essential Task List (NMETL) development and implementation
- Understanding of Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) methodologies
Professional Background:
- Experience working with NSWC Corona and NUWC Keyport Det Pacific
- Previous assignment to major warfare development centers or training commands
- Background in curriculum development and instructional systems design

Compliance Requirements
- Security Clearance: SECRET (current and active) and TS/SCI eligible
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required

- Travel Requirements: Moderate travel up to 25% for training events and coordination
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in office, classroom, and shipboard environments
- Extended periods of computer work and detailed analysis tasks
- Ability to participate in training exercises and events in various locations
Work Location

- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1600 (40-hour work week)
- Occasional extended hours during training events and exercises
