Position Summary
Technical Systems Integration (TSI) seeks a Mid-Level Future Surface Force Tactics Support specialist to support the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Commander's Action Group (CAG) in San Diego, CA. This role provides direct support to the Commander's Action Group Director and Deputy in executing strategic initiatives, coordinating tactical development programs, and supporting high-level meetings and communications. The successful candidate will work closely with SMWDC senior leadership to implement future surface force tactics initiatives and coordinate stakeholder engagement across the Surface Warfare Enterprise.
Essential Functions
Commander's Action Group Support
- Provide direct support to Commander's Action Group Director and Deputy in planning and executing strategic initiatives
- Coordinate with staff to ensure commitments made at meetings, operational planning teams, and conferences are tracked from identification through completion
- Assist in managing special projects and time-critical tasking as directed by SMWDC Commander
- Support implementation of actionable solutions to cross-functional team-tasked projects
Strategic Communications & Documentation Support
- Assist in preparing written messages for SMWDC Commander, Deputy Commander, Division Directors, and Branch Heads
- Support development of Strategic Communications Plans for SMWDC including visibility initiatives throughout the Surface community
- Help assess effectiveness of SMWDC communications and provide recommendations for improvement
- Support coordination of communication schedules for planned events and fleet concentration area visits
Meeting & Event Coordination
- Provide support in planning Maritime Warfare Board of Visitors and Surface Warfare Combat Training Continuum Executive Steering Committee events
- Coordinate resolution of issues identified during executive-level meetings and steering committees
- Assist with conference room scheduling, logistics coordination, and administrative support for high-level meetings
- Support coordination with higher-echelon entities regarding readiness reporting criteria and organizational recommendations
Training Program Coordination
- Support instruction coordination for Type Commander (TYCOM) Indoctrination courses
- Assist with scheduling conference rooms, coordinating instructor availability, and promulgating class schedules
- Help coordinate student information with Special Security Officer (SSO) for clearance verification
- Collect and compile student feedback on class effectiveness and provide recommendations to SMWDC leadership
International Partnership Support
- Assist in preparing meetings with international representation in coordination with Foreign Disclosure Officer
- Support coordination with Commander's Action Group Director and Deputy on international partnership initiatives
- Help facilitate tactical development exchanges and cooperation with partner navies
- Provide administrative support for meetings involving allied and coalition navy representatives
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 8+ years of recent experience as a qualified Surface Warfare Officer, Naval Aviator with Surface Warfare/Staff Experience, Marine Corps Officer with Naval Surface Staff Experience, or Non-Commissioned Officer (Chief Petty Officer or above) with proven OFRP and Naval Surface Training knowledge
- 3+ years of recent experience in strategic writing including policies, memorandums, and planning documents
- 3+ years experience with Combat Systems, components, and instructions
- 3+ years experience with Command and Control issues regarding surveillance, engagement, and planning functions
Required Technical Skills:
- Recent experience in the Surface Community or with training entities inside the Naval Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP)
- Experience with Staff and Fleet operations and planning procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
Required Competencies:
- Strong understanding of surface warfare operations and tactical development
- Good communications and administrative coordination capabilities
- Experience supporting senior military leadership and staff functions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Experience with Strategic Communications Plans development and coordination
- Knowledge of meeting planning and executive support functions
- Familiarity with Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) processes
Domain Knowledge:
- Experience supporting Commander's Action Groups or executive staff functions
- Understanding of Maritime Warfare Board of Visitors and Executive Steering Committee operations
- Knowledge of Naval Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) and surface force training requirements
Professional Background:
- Previous assignment to major type commands or numbered fleet staffs
- Experience with high-level meeting coordination and administrative support
- Background in surface warfare tactical development or doctrine coordination
