Position Summary
Technical Systems Integration (TSI) seeks a Mid-Level Operations Analyst with Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) expertise in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) to support the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Surface Warfare Technical Division (SWTD) in Dahlgren, VA. This specialized analytical role focuses on analyzing ASW combat systems, developing tactical approaches, and conducting operational research to enhance fleet anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The successful candidate will leverage extensive experience with the Naval ASW suite to support advanced analytical studies, system performance assessments, and capability development across ASW mission areas.
Essential Functions
ASW Systems Analysis & Development
- Review and provide recommendations on content and presentation for new/emerging Navy/Joint ASW system concepts, tactics, techniques, and procedures publications
- Conduct research and evaluation to support the development of ASW weapons and surveillance system capabilities, including the deployment of new or improved systems
- Monitor and assess performance of ASW combat, weapons, and surveillance systems, ensuring they meet operational and technical requirements in contested and uncontested environments
- Validate and document that emerging ASW technologies and combat systems components will close identified anti-submarine warfare capability gaps
Technical Documentation & Presentations
- Make presentations and write technical reports describing objectives, procedures, and results of ASW studies, analyses, experiments, and investigations
- Document new or improved techniques, monitoring processes, reporting systems, and statistical analysis methods for ASW operations
- Support development of ASW technical publications, system documentation, and capability assessments
- Present analytical findings to senior leadership, technical organizations, and ASW stakeholders
Combat Systems Development & Technical Collaboration
- Support Navy Combat Systems development processes with focus on ASW capabilities and anti-submarine warfare requirements
- Participate in Rapid Capability Development processes for ASW systems and technologies
- Review and collaborate on Navy technical documentation related to ASW systems and anti-submarine warfare operations
- Support Navy Test & Evaluation (T&E) processes and contribute to ASW system testing and validation
ASW System Performance Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and interpret operational, tactical, and ASW system data including SQQ-89(V) sonar system performance metrics
- Analyze data from ASW exercises, submarine tracking events, and real-world anti-submarine operations
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessment methods to support ASW war-fighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations
- Support performance analysis and metrics development for anti-submarine warfare mission areas
Sharem Process Support
- Apply understanding of SHAREM (Shared Acoustic Range Estimation Method) process for ASW tactical development
- Support acoustic range estimation analysis and tactical recommendations for ASW operations
- Coordinate with ASW technical organizations to validate SHAREM applications and tactical implementation
- Document SHAREM process improvements and lessons learned from fleet operations
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 10+ years of military experience with a minimum of 8 years in the operation of Naval ASW suite, such as SQQ-89(V)
- Strike Group, Fleet, Major Training Command, or Systems Testing Command planning experience
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Qualified and experienced in watch stations with authority to employ ASW Weapon Systems (Tactical Action Officer or ASW Evaluator)
- Must possess Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter
Required Technical Skills:
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative assessment methods supporting war-fighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word)
- Experience in Navy Combat Systems development and Rapid Capability Development processes
- Experience in review and collaboration on Navy technical documentation
Required Competencies:
- Expert-level knowledge of ASW operations, anti-submarine warfare tactics, and Naval ASW suite operations
- Understanding of SHAREM process and acoustic range estimation methodologies
- Strong analytical and technical writing capabilities for complex ASW system assessments
- Ability to conduct comprehensive performance evaluations and capability gap analysis for ASW systems
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Experience with advanced ASW sensor technologies and sonar system optimization
- Knowledge of submarine threat analysis and ASW countermeasures development
- Familiarity with joint and coalition ASW operations and interoperability requirements
Domain Knowledge:
- Experience with SQQ-89(V) sonar system variants and advanced capability builds
- Understanding of ASW mission planning tools and tactical decision aids
- Knowledge of ASW doctrine development and tactical publication processes
Professional Background:
- Previous assignment to ASW centers of excellence or specialized anti-submarine warfare organizations
- Experience with ASW system development, testing, or evaluation activities
- Background supporting ASW research and development organizations or analytical studies

- Occasional shipboard environment support requirements during ASW exercises and evaluations
