MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - 2ND SHIFT

Primary Function: The Maintenance Supervisor works from the USCS’ Standard Operating Procedures Manual, preventative maintenance schedule, project work orders, and production schedule. The Maintenance Supervisor is required to complete all daily, weekly, and annual preventative maintenance tasks within a scheduled time frame while maintaining and recording all required log sheets and history records. This position requires the use of judgment on the most efficient manner to complete the assigned projects and repairs in a safe manner.
The Job Details:
- Responsible for any routine maintenance tasks and general housekeeping of refrigeration systems.
- Conducts routine inspections of all refrigeration equipment including Engine Room Log, and keeping of and maintaining records for compressors, evaporators, and receivers.
- Must be able to substitute as Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facilities refrigeration systems, material handling equipment, and maintain all aspects of facility infrastructure and grounds
- Train and Manage daily tasks of maintenance personnel
- Schedule and manage facility projects
- Train all employees in various safety and regulatory compliance topics.
- Must be able to be on call 24/7/365
- Participate on an Emergency Response Team.
- Supervise contractors and approval of contractor bills for payment.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and necessary maintenance repairs.
- Responsible for any routine maintenance tasks and general housekeeping of refrigeration systems.
- Conducts routine inspections of all refrigeration equipment including Engine Room Log, and keeping of and maintaining records for compressors, evaporators, and receivers.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facilities refrigeration systems, material handling equipment, and maintain all aspects of facility infrastructure and grounds
- Participate in Safety and Educational Training.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including occasional weekends, and be on-call as required.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Maintain organization and inventory of Maintenance Shop.
- Perform building maintenance and maintain outside grounds with routine inspections of lighting, filters, vents, etc.
- Prepares building for season changes.
- Maintains proper appearance of building by cleaning, painting, and repairing.
- Responsible for any routine maintenance or operational task assigned.
- General housekeeping of maintenance shops and work areas.
- Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of dock levelers, doors, tilt tables, stretch wrap machines, plumbing, etc.
- Always maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications.
- Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Identify and record any issues relating to product, processes and/or quality.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
What We Are Looking For:
Education
- High School Degree preferred
- RETA Certification Recommended but not Required
- Must pass Emergency Response Physical (Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually)
Experience
- 4+ years of mechanical skills in maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry and industrial refrigeration systems (e.g. anhydrous ammonia)
- Ability to perform safe shut downs of refrigeration systems.
- Working knowledge of the functions of various material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks, lead acid batteries, battery chargers, etc.).
- Knowledge of refrigeration control systems, microprocessors, and asset management systems (e.g. Infor EAM).
- Knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills.

- Work in an atmosphere range of + 90 to - 20 degrees F with a moderate noise level
- Personal interaction and communication required to and from other people is extremely high
- Good arithmetic and reading skills
- Understand and follow verbal instruction, written instruction and company policies
- A self-starter that can work independently and coordinate with others
- Work in a fast pace environment with the ability to manage stress and productivity guidelines
