Knowesis, Inc. is seeking a forward-thinking Cloud Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of secure cloud infrastructure supporting the DoD OIG’s Office of the CIO. This role is central to the agency’s digital transformation, ensuring that cloud solutions are scalable, resilient, and compliant with federal cybersecurity and data governance standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep cloud expertise, strategic vision, and a collaborative mindset to support mission-critical operations across classified and unclassified environments.

The DoD OIG mission is to detect and deter fraud, waste, and abuse in DoD programs and operations; promote the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the DoD; and help ensure ethical conduct throughout the DoD. The DoD OIG keeps the Secretary of Defense and the Congress informed of fraud, waste, abuse, and program deficiencies identified through its oversight work. The DoD OIG’s administrative and criminal investigators, auditors, evaluators, and support staff operate globally, conducting investigations, audits, evaluations, and mission support activities to accomplish the DoD OIG’s mission. The DoD OIG, OCIO is responsible for installing, maintaining, operating, and supporting all DoD OIG Information Technology (IT) systems and communication capabilities for approximately 2000 end users and over 60 locations around the globe. Due to the independence of the DoD OIG, the OCIO provides the full spectrum of IT services necessary to support the OIG mission including database support, storage management, transition management, application services, mobile device management, IT asset management, domain services, network transport, and service desk. 

 The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Architect and implement secure cloud solutions using Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or other approved platforms
  • Lead cloud migration efforts, including application rehosting, refactoring, and modernization
  • Develop and maintain cloud governance frameworks aligned with DoD, NIST, and FedRAMP standards
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure secure integration and data flow
  •  Define and enforce cloud architecture standards, tagging policies, and cost optimization strategies
  • Support RMF documentation, system accreditation, and compliance with DISA STIGs
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and support staff
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to support mission agility
  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams, deployment templates, and operational documentation
  • Report regularly to Knowesis and government stakeholders on cloud posture, risks, and performance

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, information systems, information technology, Engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum 8 years’ IT experience with at least 5 years’ experience focused on cloud infrastructure design, implementation, and management
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing hybrid cloud environments, integrating on-premises infrastructure with Azure cloud services
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing cloud infrastructure supporting 1,000+ users across multiple geographic locations
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementation using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep, or Terraform
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with cloud migration projects to include virtual machine migration from on-premises to Azure, and technical expertise in Azure cloud services
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting federal or DoD environment
  • Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II
  • Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
  • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
  • Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) v3 or later
