Role Overview

We seek a Technical Delivery Manager to lead our growing engineering team and establish world-class development processes. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll serve as the single point of contact for all technical delivery, ensuring projects align with company vision and meet ambitious deadlines. This role offers the opportunity to build and scale engineering operations from the ground up in a fast-growing company with expanding technical needs.

What You'll Own

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead current engineering team of 5 (2 full-stack, 1 frontend, 2 backend) plus UX/UI designer

  • Manage senior lead architect and coordinate technical architecture decisions

  • Drive hiring decisions for team growth to 12+ engineers (with CEO approval)

  • Establish clear team structure, roles, and career development paths

Process Implementation & Operations

  • Implement comprehensive agile development processes and sprint planning methodologies

  • Establish clear project management frameworks to eliminate missed deadlines and confused specifications

  • Create structured development workflows that scale with team growth

  • Drive team productivity and ensure consistent on-time delivery

Project & Delivery Management

  • Oversee all technical projects including primary social application and emerging skunk works initiatives

  • Translate CEO vision into clear technical requirements and deliverables

  • Set and manage project timelines, milestones, and success metrics

  • Ensure technical decisions align with business objectives and company strategy

Strategic Coordination

  • Serve as primary liaison between CEO and engineering team

  • Provide weekly progress updates and strategic technical insights to leadership

  • Collaborate with future Senior Product Manager hire (will report to you)

  • Manage technical resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects

Requirements

Engineering Leadership Experience

  • 8+ years engineering management experience with demonstrated success scaling technical teams

  • Proven track record implementing agile processes and improving team productivity

  • Experience managing senior engineers and technical leads

  • History of successful project delivery in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

Technical Background

  • Strong technical foundation to evaluate architecture decisions and technical proposals

  • Understanding of modern full-stack development practices and technologies

  • Experience with social applications, community platforms, or consumer-facing products

  • Familiarity with scaling technical infrastructure and development processes

Management & Operations Excellence

  • Expertise in lean agile methodologies, sprint planning, and project management frameworks

  • Experience establishing development processes from early-stage through scale-up

  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills

  • Track record of hiring and developing high-performing engineering teams

Startup/Scale-up Experience

  • Preferred background in scale-up environments managing teams of 5-15 engineers

  • Experience bringing big tech discipline and processes to growing startups

  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to establish structure in fast-moving environments

  • History of growing into expanded responsibilities as companies scale

Immediate Priorities (First 90 Days)

  • Implement structured agile processes and eliminate missed deadlines

  • Establish clear team coordination and communication workflows

  • Assess current technical architecture and development practices

  • Create scalable project management systems for growing team and project complexity
