The Opportunity

John Hancock has an unique opportunity for an experienced User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Lead to join our dynamic team.

Position Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the UAT efforts for our software development projects, ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards and satisfy user requirements before they are released into production.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, product management, development, and quality engineering to create and implement effective UAT strategies. 

Office location: Boston - USA (ideally) or Toronto - Canada or Waterloo - Canada

Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home;

Remote working option is not available.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3 plus years of experience in the Life Insurance industry with an understanding of Insurance lifecycle management including a good understanding of business processes associated with policy issue, underwriting, administration, customer portal workflows, producer portal, agent compensation platforms 

  • 7 years of experience in software testing, with at least 5 years focused on User Acceptance Testing. 

  • Proven experience in creating and implementing UAT strategies and plans for complex software development projects. 

  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and Agile methodologies along with test life cycle (STLC) of insurance-based systems 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively. 

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. 

  • Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM, TestRail) and defect management tools & testing frameworks. 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive UAT strategies and plans that align with project goals and timelines. 

  • Lead and manage UAT efforts, including the preparation of test plans, test cases, and test scripts. 

  • Coordinate UAT activities with business stakeholders, end-users, and project teams to ensure that testing is thorough and effective. 

  • Identify, document, and track defects and issues, and work with development teams to resolve them in a timely manner. 

  • Ensure that UAT environments are properly set up and maintained for testing purposes. 

  • Facilitate UAT reviews and signoffs with business stakeholders to ensure acceptance criteria are met. 

  • Provide training and support to end-users to ensure they are equipped to perform UAT effectively. 

  • Continuously improve UAT processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Communicate UAT progress, risks, and issues to project stakeholders and management. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and user experience. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Preferred experience on AI tools / Agentic AI to improve UAT experience

Salary range is expected to be between

$104,860.00 USD - $194,740.00 USD
