Required Degree:  PhD - earned doctoral degree in Exercise Sciences or a related discipline. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: 

1.     Eligible candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Exercise Sciences or a related discipline and demonstrate a strong potential for quality teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students through high-quality scholarship. Individuals applying at the rank of Associate or Full Professor should possess a record of high-quality scholarship and effective student mentoring.

2.     Applicants should have a strong desire to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom, laboratory, and through other experiential learning opportunities. As external funding helps support research and mentoring, evidence of either having received or applied for external research funding will strengthen the application.

3.     Preference will be given to individuals with expertise the areas of Motor Control or Sports Sciences.

Duties/Expectations: 

1.     The new faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Motor Control or Sports Sciences.

2.     The new faculty member will maintain an active research program with a strong emphasis on undergraduate and graduate mentoring. Their research program will result in 1) regular presentations at scientific conferences, 2) a consistent record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable professional/scholarly journals and 3) external funding proposals to support their research.

3.     The new faculty member is also expected to be involved in university and community service and be actively engaged with professional organizations at the regional and national levels.

Department Description: The Department of Exercise Sciences is a thriving department with 2,000 undergraduate students majoring in Exercise Sciences or Exercise and Wellness within the College of Life Sciences. Brigham Young University is an R1 university with a unique emphasis on engaging undergraduate students in the research process. Faculty research expertise in the department is diverse and includes active programs in the areas of orthopedic rehabilitation, athletic training, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and exercise and wellness. The department offers MS and PhD programs in Exercise Sciences and a Master of Athletic Training program. The department is committed to providing high-quality teaching and mentoring experiences to undergraduate and graduate students.
