Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
GENERAL DUTIES:
Reporting to the Manager of Oncology Supportive Care Services, the Patient Liaison’s role is designed to provide assistance, education, and liaison functions to patients and family members of the Comprehensive Cancer Center in order to enhance the quality of services offered by The Comprehensive Cancer Center while promoting the mission and philosophy of Tenet Health Care Corporation.
The Patient Liaison is responsible for assisting patients to improve their level of confidence as they move through cancer treatment. The Patient Liaison is responsible for making telephone calls on behalf of patients and educating patients/community members on topics relevant to supportive care. The Patient Liaison responds to all patient requests, problems, and questions. The Patient Liaison works to secure internal and external resources to address patient concerns.
These services further the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to create a unique environment where patients, their families, doctors and staff members come together to achieve longer and better lives in the fight against cancer.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Meets Tenet and hospital standards as defined by the Employee Handbook.
• Adheres to Desert Regional Medical Center and Oncology Supportive Care policies and procedures.
• Adheres to Kronos/Timekeeping rules and requirements.
• Adheres to Meal/Rest Period Policies.
• Adheres to attendance policy requirements.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to safely and appropriately fulfill job specific responsibilities in the hospital’s environment of care plan.
• Meets State of California standards by completing an annual TB test during the established timeframe.
• Follows federal, state, and facility patient privacy (HIPAA) guidelines.
• Completes mandatory training as required.
• Participates in patient care activities including educational and therapeutic arts programs.
• Provides community education on topics relevant to cancer support.
• Coordinate care with the Oncology Social Worker to introduce patients and family members to supportive care programs.
• Prepare periodic reports to assess departmental activities and productivity.
• Produce work that is accurate and reliable.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
• Complies with regulatory requirements appropriate for position.
• Associate of Arts Degree with emphasis in Health Sciences or Behavioral Health.
Preferred:
• Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences or Behavioral Health from an accredited university.
• Experience in Oncology Supportive Care.
