Staff Machine Learning Software Engineer, Sensor Intelligence

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
  
• 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  
• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI development, with a record of building and deploying production-level models.
• Experience working in a research setting, collaborating with researchers and translating research findings into practical applications.
• Experience in leading technical projects, from conception to deployment, with a focus on delivering results on time.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

• Do research on cutting edge sensor technologies.Evaluate large-scale, real-world sensor data for training sensor foundation model(s)  and Build new sensor foundation models
• Collaborating with researchers and translating research findings from sensor data into practical applications for Fitness and health
• Write and test product or system development code.Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
