Streaming Data Analytics (SDA) is a platform developed internally within ING aimed at getting real time insights based on real time data. The underlying technology is based on Apache Flink and Apache Kafka deployed using Microsoft DevOps on a Openshift cluster on our internal private cloud and soon also on the public cloud. Users of the platform are other teams within ING, spread across various domains and countries, that use the SDA platform for purposes like fraud detection, KYC and generating realtime actionable insights.
Your responsibilities:
As an OPS/SRE engineer you will work in a multi-disciplinary squad of Ops and Dev engineers and will be responsible for improving the platform experience of our consuming teams, starting at their onboarding process throughout their entire lifecycle. You will use feedback from consuming teams as well as from your own team, metrics and logs from the system as input to further improve the scalability and resilience of the platform. You will either implement the improvements yourself and/or will work with your SDA squad members.
Technology, tools and process knowledge:
Familiarity with ITIL (Incident, Problem, and Change Management) (Should have)
Knowledge of Azure DevOps Pipelines (must have)
Experience with the ELK stack (should have)
DevOps Experience on GCP, preferably Dataflow (Very nice to have)
Skills in Docker, Kubernetes, and Openshift (should have)
Understanding of Kafka (should have)
Proficiency in Unix/Linux and bash scripting (should have)
Coaching skills:
Mentoring and training consumers in the use of our platform
Facilitation skills
Mindset & soft skills:
Willingness to do a deep dive into the internals of Apache Flink
Automation mindset & waste buster
Proactive attitude, always on the look-out for improving your and our way of working
Diplomacy and good communication skills
Not shy to express and defend his/her opinion in front of a crowd (even if it is not the popular opinion)
Analysis capabilities and testing abilities

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in IT / Computer Science
