Global Ad Technology Supervisory Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross-functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across five countries: Japan, Singapore, India, China and UK.

Our vision is to empower our internal and external stakeholders by providing data driven marketing solutions by developing the Ad delivery, Audience Management, Tracking, Reporting and Data Sync Platforms. Joining us, you will be able to challenge yourself in a wide range of technologies in the frontline of heavy traffic large scale ad applications and platforms, including high performance system development and big data processing systems. Also, you will be able to work about latest digital advertising and Ad platform because we also closely work with outside Ad platformer as well.

In the platform team, We have a Product Designer position that involves possessing comprehensive knowledge of advertising platforms, deeply understanding user challenges, and designing and implementing user-friendly and engaging product experiences while balancing business goals with technical feasibility.

At this critical juncture, we are seeking powerful product designers who can join us in shaping the future of our products and design product experiences that will make a real impact on the market.

Position Details

Based on comprehensive knowledge of advertising platforms and user-centered design thinking, you will be consistently involved in the product lifecycle, from planning to release and improvement.

Identifying and Solving User Issues

  • Through user research (interviews, surveys, data analysis, etc.), you will deeply understand user issues and needs, identifying the essential problems.
  • You will design user scenarios, user flows, and information architecture, defining the product's framework.
  • You will create wireframes and prototypes to validate and improve the user experience.

Ui Design Execution

  • You will devise user-friendly and appealing UI designs and translate them into concrete screen designs.
  • You will build and operate design guidelines and design systems to pursue a consistent product experience.

Balancing Business Goals and Technical Feasibility:

  • You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and business-side members to derive optimal solutions while balancing business goals, technical constraints, and user needs.
  • You will validate the effectiveness of designs based on data (usage, performance measurement, etc.) and drive a continuous improvement cycle.

Others

  • Participate in design reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in digital advertising and advertising platforms, and apply them to the product.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in online advertising and marketing
  • 3+ years of UX/UI design experience for services and applications
  • 3+ years of professional, production experience using Figma, prototyping tools, and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience in product brand development
  • Ability to understand requirements, translate them into design, and clearly articulate the design rationale
  • Direction skills that consider business, engineering, and creative perspectives
  • Solid knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Fluent Japanese speaker or have N2 Level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or have equivalent qualifications or business level skills
  • Fluent English speaker or TOEIC score of 800 or higher, or equivalent skills or qualifications

  • Experience designing B2B services
  • Experience producing designs that adhere to existing design guidelines
  • Creative production experience for online ads (e.g., banners, animated banners, video ads)
  • Strong interest in brand building
  • Demonstrated track record of improving user experience through user and stakeholder interviews and research
  • Hands-on professional experience leveraging AI in design workflows
