Roles & Responsibilities

Here are some of the key responsibilities of Azure Engineer Manager: 

1.Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data and application architecture solutions on Microsoft Azure. 2.Define and establish Azure architectural patterns and reusable components to solve recurring challenges in cloud-native data systems. 3.Apply design pattern best practices to ensure robust, maintainable, and cost-effective Azure-based solutions. 4.Develop and execute a comprehensive Azure data strategy aligned with business goals, emphasizing data governance, quality, compliance, and security. 5.Define standards for data lifecycle management, metadata management, and data classification using Azure Purview and related services. 6.Architect and implement end-to-end data solutions using Azure services such as: a)Compute & Orchestration: Azure App Service, Function app, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory b)Storage & Databases: Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, OneLake c)AI/ML: Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Fabric d)DevOps & CI/CD: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Bicep/ARM templates e)Networking: VNet, Private Link, Service Endpoints 7.Design full-stack Azure architectures for data ingestion, transformation, analytics, and visualization. 8.Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, guiding solution design, code quality, and architectural decisions. 9.Mentor junior engineers and architects, fostering a culture of innovation, learning, and collaboration. 10.Design and implement high-performance data pipelines using: a)Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Pipelines, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric b)Programming languages such as Python, Scala, PySpark 11.Build ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data from diverse sources. 12.Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and integrate with testing and deployment workflows 13.Ensure network security, identity management, and role-based access control (RBAC) using Azure Active Directory, Private Endpoints, and NSGs 14.Monitor infrastructure health and performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights

Plan and implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies

Mandatory  technical & functional skills

Strong expertise in designing and implementing Azure-based data architectures using services like Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Cosmos DB, App Service, Service Bus, Application Gateway, function app, VNet, Private Link, Service Endpoints; Proficiency in building ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark, Python, and Scala; Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform; Solid understanding of Azure networking, security (RBAC, Private Endpoints), and governance practices; Skilled in monitoring and optimizing performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights; Experience working with Azure AI Foundry Services – model deployments

Preferred technical & functional skills

Experience with AKS, Azure Machine Learning, cost optimization strategies, and enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF is a plus; Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Databricks roadmaps, including participation in previews and evaluating new features, is highly desirable. Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Scrum practices, and project management tools like Azure Boards or Jira adds value in managing cross-functional teams. Experience with data cataloging tools like Azure Purview, and understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) are also advantageous.
