Europe - Chief Accountant Poland

Primary Reporting Line: Europe Reporting Accounting and Planning. Member of country finance team

Key Responsibilities:

• Where required (dependent upon country size) Leadership of a small accounting team (functional and disciplinary) ensuring that financial statements are prepared according to Group GAAP and Local GAAP. Can be individual contributor role
• Ensure that all monthly and periodic financial close / reports monthly/ quarterly/ year end e.g. Stat Packs are completed within the agreed timeframes and are materially correct
• ConsA and ConsB reporting
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
• Partner and collaborate with Country FD to ensure strong Balance Sheet controls and risk/opportunities are managed (e.g. intangible assets, goodwill, deferred taxes, unbilled receivables, foreign currency items, WIP, deferred cost/revenue, aged debt etc) are regularly reviewed and controlled 
• Co-ordinate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and General Ledger activities with the Shared Service Center
• Accountability for Intra Company reconciliation
• Period cut-off: Sundry debtors and creditors, deferred income and expenses
• Accountability for HR postings
• Accountability for Monthly upload to the consolidation tool (BCS), with error tracking and corrections
• Central contact person for other departments (Controlling/ Purchasing/ Treasury)
• Clarification of non-routine accounting topics
• Support Country FD with equity monitoring ensuring compliance with local legal requirements. Support any equity measures, including letters of support and recapitalizations
• Country point of contact for technical accounting issues
• Support preparation of balance sheet review data in the agreed standard format and follow up of any issues that have been identified within the agreed timeframe.
• Point of contact for external auditors, prepare and coordinate the audit process
• Statutory Account preparation and external audit, full compliance with local reporting requirements and company law
• Support J-Sox processes
• Monitor and support taxation issues
• SAP Key User
• Support OneERP or other tools and systems implementation, per country wave plan

Skills required:

• Qualified Chief Accountant or other relevant international finance qualification (ACCA /CIMA)
• Minimum 2 years of experience as Chief Accountant of an entity
• Experience of supporting process transformation
• Excellent command of fluent business English (oral and written skills)
• Extraordinary communication skills (oral and written skills) and strong presentation skills
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to understand the broader business acumen
