Description
Summary:
The Production Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting in implementation of Plasma-Therm’s Quality system within manufacturing and guided by Plasma-Therm’s core values. Ensuring all systems meet or exceed expectations while adhering to standard system specifications and quality standards. System inspections and audits are performed in a professional and completely unbiased manner.
Provide improvements of product reliability and quality through evaluation and modification of equipment procedures and systems. He/She will largely collaborate with the Manufacturing teams, Materials team, Product and Process engineers. And join the Plasma-Therm Quality and Continuous Improvement dept., consisting of supplier quality, customer quality and continuous improvement functions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Support the manufacturing process with incorporating quality systems, that support the vision of zero defects to customers.
- Develop and implement in-process inspection criteria for manufactured systems and identify resolutions.
- Support to reduce non-conforming material received by manufacturing due to defects from supplied parts.
- Initiate Root-cause analysis together with manufacturing and other cross functional teams, for permanent Corrective actions.
- Initiate Quality alerts, describing the defects found internally and externally from customers.
- Support manufacturing to perform the acceptance testing procedure (ATP) on equipment.
- Ensure all nonconformities found during ATP have been corrected and closed before ATP is completed.
- Lead the continuous improvement process for updating the ATP checklist’s based on feedback from engineering teams.
- Conduct pre-shipment audits for larger equipment, sub-assemblies and kits.
- Assisting manufacturing with RC / CA process, via 5-Why or other methods.
- Track and trend quality metrics, related to rework, scrap and the overall cost of quality.
- Works on other assigned tasks and projects as required.
- Maintains the highest standard for 5S in the workplace.
- It is every employee’s responsibility to be aware of and adhere to the applicable Safety & Health, Quality and Environmental Process of Plasma-Therm, LLC.
Other Duties:
- Participate in the weekly non-conforming parts disposition review meeting.
- Support the ISO 9001 internal auditing process.
- Support the annual measurement equipment calibration process.
- Identify continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Strong background in Problem Solving, Process Control
- Experience with electrical systems and mechanical assemblies.
- Bachelor’s degree or 2-year associates degree with appropriate experience as an equivalent.
- 5+ years of production experience.
- Quality management systems and ISO9001 experience.
