Job Description:

Established in 2022, the Hamilton School is a multidisciplinary academic unit whose purpose is to support teaching and research concerning the ideas, traditions, and texts that shape Western civilization and American values and institutions. The School offers undergraduate majors in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law (PPEL) and Great Books and Ideas. Two other undergraduate and two graduate degrees are expected to be offered starting in Fall 2026.

The School seeks to fill up to four (4) tenured or tenure-track positions to teach primarily in the PPEL degree program and to start in the AY 2026–2027 academic year. Within the bounds of our academic mission, the School is flexible as to the disciplinary focus of our applicants. Applications for this cycle are especially encouraged from scholars with a research expertise in economics, economic history, political economy, law, public policy, politics and related fields. Applications especially welcome from candidates who can teach a required degree course on legal reasoning, as well as well as upper-level, multidisciplinary courses on topics at the intersection of law, economics and politics. A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is required. Salaries are competitive.

Successful applicants will combine excellent scholarly records, active research agendas, demonstrated teaching excellence, and a commitment to the Hamilton School’s educational mission.

  • Commensurate with education and experience.
