Position Details

The Department of History, Geography and Legal Studies in the College of Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Education at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History with a specialization in revolutionary-era North America, to begin January 2026. In addition to service and scholarship, the successful candidate will teach 3 courses per semester, including all levels of undergraduate courses in both the History Major and the Spartan Studies general education program. Qualifications

Ph.D. in History required at time of application. Willingness to teach the required Historian’s Craft and Research Capstone courses for majors is a necessity. The ideal candidate will have a record of success teaching writing-infused general education courses and the U.S. Civil War as well as upper-level courses in the American Revolution and colonial North America. In order to support the learning outcomes of the Spartan Studies general education program, a record of success in historical role-playing pedagogy such as Reacting to the Past, or similar experiential pedagogy, is preferred.
