Position Summary
The Cashier position is needed for our cafeterias located in each of our lodges. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy staying actively engaged, as there is always something to contribute to the mountain’s success. A friendly, outgoing, and winning attitude will make you a success in this work environment, which can vary from fast-paced to mellow, sometimes within the same day. Knowledge of Square POS is a plus, but it is an intuitive system to quickly pick up.
Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment by greeting and acknowledging every customer, answering commonly asked questions, and moving the guest through the transaction process in a timely manner.
- Be familiar with all products, up-sell items, and give recommendations according to current promotions.
- Accurately ring in all items and adhere to department standards and accounting practices.
- Handle cash accurately and always keep Mt. Bachelor assets safe.
- Have a pleasant demeanor and work well as a team with other staff members.
- Perform opening and closing duties as well as rotate and keep products stocked throughout the day.
- Maintain service stations in a clean and orderly manner throughout the shift.
- Advise management when certain products are running low and need to be reordered.
- Have working knowledge of computers and the POS system.
- Maintain a professional and personable appearance.
- Accountable for accurate time keeping. Responsible for clocking in and out with employee pass.
- Completes any reasonable task assigned by the supervisor.
- Observe mountain-wide policies found in the Employee Handbook.
Secondary Function
- Assist with bussing tables as well as dishwashing duties.
- May be asked to assist with basic food prep & delivery
Snow Removal Duties.
Job Scope
Position does not have any supervisory or decision-making responsibilities. Provide problem-solving assistance to less experienced cashiers.
Interpersonal Contacts
Position will have constant guest and employee interaction.
Specific Job Skills/Certifications
- Additional: Must have a positive attitude. Flexible with hours and days of work. Able to work any hours of the day, any days of the week. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Superb customer service and problem-solving skills. Must work well under pressure.
- License/Certifications: Oregon Food Handler, OLCC permit per facility need.
- Technical: Competent with computers and willing to learn the Point of Sale system.
- Physical Capabilities: Able to stand for long periods of time while using hands.
Education/Related Experience
- Minimum time in related position: Cashiering experience between 1-3 years preferred.
- Minimum education required: Some High School, Diploma, or GED preferred.
