This position is a member of our Air Monitoring Division.

Here’S What You’Ll Be Doing

  • Prepare and/or review complex written quality assurance documents, including quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), applications for analytical method modifications (AMMs), quality management plans (QMPs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).  Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks in support of federal, state, and local air, water, and waste programs.
  • Prepare and schedule annual quality assurance assessment plans for assigned programs; analyze past audit/inspection results, complaints, and other factors; consults with agency organization and program management; and determines trends and risks to agency programs and projects.
  • Conduct quality assurance assessments of assigned programs; prepare audit plan; conduct on-site assessments; prepare and distribute audit reports; evaluate acceptability, timeliness, and effectiveness of proposed corrective actions; and verify effective corrective action implementation. 
  • Assist in conducting quality assurance assessments of agency QA programs. Assist in coordinating identification and disposition of nonconforming items and activities, including reporting to management, monitoring timely corrective action implementation, and verifying effectiveness of implemented actions.
 

Qualifications

 

Required Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus six years of full-time experience in environmental activities.

One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.

Or

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, or related fields plus five years of the required experience.

Or

A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, environmental science, or related fields plus four years of the required experience.

Or

Two years of full-time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist IV at the TCEQ.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2).  Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in assisting with or planning and conducting audits, inspections, or investigations, and assisting with or preparing associated reports.
  • Experience in assisting with or preparing and reviewing quality assurance project plans, quality management plans, and/or standard operating procedures related to environmental regulatory programs.
  • Experience interpreting and administering rules and regulations related to federal and state water, waste, or air quality monitoring programs.
  • B.S. and/or M.S. in a scientific field

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Monitoring Division.
