Description

As a Traffic CAD Technician, you will plan, design, organize, and recommend traffic design solutions for FDOT, County and municipal roadway improvement projects. Your engineering assignments may include signal and intelligent transportation systems design, Advanced Traffic Management System operations, Active Arterial Management, signal retiming studies, safety studies, signing, pavement marking, work zone traffic control, operational analyses for isolated intersections, complex arterial networks, and freeways.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

• Perform engineering design related to traffic operations, including traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking plans, temporary traffic control (maintenance of traffic) plans, and traffic analysis. 
• Prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, and technical reports to support traffic design submittals.
• Develop project documentation including Signing and Pavement Marking Packages, Signalization Plans, Traffic Control Plans, Design Exceptions, Estimated Quantity Reports, and Project Meeting Minutes.
• Assist Project Managers and Senior Traffic Engineers with design task production, coordination, and maintaining project documentation in accordance with agency standards.
• Conduct traffic engineering investigations by performing well-defined tasks such as collecting and analyzing traffic data, conducting capacity and safety analyses, performing routine calculations, and assisting in evaluating the feasibility of traffic design alternatives.

What You'Ll Need

• 2+ years of transportation design experience
• Familiarity with FDOT production procedures are preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with CAD, Bentley’s MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer preferred
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
• Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
