JOB SUMMARY
The Tool & Die Tech I is responsible for the maintenance, assembly, and troubleshooting of tooling and dies. The role focuses on cleaning, preventive maintenance, and efficient troubleshooting while ensuring adherence to safety procedures and quality standards. Machine shop skills, precision measurements and required tools. The primary duties include safe and precise tool and die installation and uninstallation. Attention to the procedures established for pre-setup, disassembly, and auxiliary equipment installations.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • • Perform tool changes on precision machines, focusing on the installation and uninstallation of tooling and dies.
  • • Execute detailed tool and die cleaning, sharpening and assembly, ensuring preventive maintenance to avoid production delays.
  • • Troubleshoot tooling and dies efficiently, minimizing machine downtime and ensuring product quality.
  • • Follow the exact procedures for pre-setup, disassembly, and equipment installation.
  • • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and geometric dimensioning to ensure proper assembly and adjustments.
  • • Use technical mathematics to perform precise measurements and calculations for precision machine setup.
  • • Maintain documentation of maintenance activities and report issues to the Maintenance Supervisor and area Manager.
  • • Apply safety measures like Lock Out/Tag Out and ensure compliance with PPE requirements.
  • • Use basic measurements elements with caliper, micrometer, dial indicators.
  • • Perform basic pneumatic assemblies
  • • Support the trial and implementation of new tooling and dies, providing feedback on performance and fit.
  • • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize tool and die maintenance practices.
  • • Engage in training programs to remain current with technological advancements tool and die handling.
  • • Assist with audits and inspections to ensure all maintenance practices comply with quality and safety standards.
  • • Work in other areas and support maintenance as needed.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • • High school diploma/GED
  • • Blueprint Reading: Basic knowledge of mechanical blueprints, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • • Tool and Die Handling: Experience in maintenance, assembly, and troubleshooting.
  • • Technical Mathematics: Proficiency in mathematical calculations for technical tasks.
  • • Use of measurement tools for quality checks.
  • • CAD Concepts: Basic understanding of CAD modeling.
  • • Machine Shop Skills: Experience in turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and fastener/thread applications. (optional)
  • • Safety Procedures: Strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out practices.
  • • Forklift Operation: Safe handling and operation of forklifts.
  • • Quality & Labeling Fundamentals: Understanding of quality assurance and proper labeling practices.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
  • • Frequently walk, sit and/or stand for the duration of their shift.
  • • Regularly lift from the knee to waist up to 50 lbs.
  • • Frequently carry, push, or pull materials
  • • Frequently use hands to grasp, manipulate, and repetitively move
