Job Description

The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property is looking to staff the Analyst, Monitoring position. The successful candidate will be responsible for round-the-clock monitoring of the IT infrastructure, facilities, and devices critical to the functioning of the House of Commons.  

Operating on a 24/7 rotational basis, you will be at the forefront of identifying and resolving issues to uphold the performance and availability of IT services to clients and their staff.  In addition to active monitoring, this role involves troubleshooting and incident management across various technology domains (including on-prem systems, OS’s, applications and their networks, alongside cloud technologies). The Monitoring Analyst ensures prompt incident resolution and clear communication with stakeholders. This position requires the individual to work on site overnight during the hours of 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. in an ongoing rotation of four (4) working days and four (4) days of rest, and may overlap with any or all seven (7) days of the week. This position also will be required to work extended or irregular hours or overtime on short notice. Due to the nature of the work, this position has a pay premium.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education from a recognized institution in an Information Technology related field OR acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience. 

Experience: 

  • Experience monitoring and/or supporting datacentre technologies in a large-scale fast-paced IT environment; 
  • Ability to multitask and communicate in critical situations: disseminating large quantities of data, accurately triaging high ticket volumes and maintaining ownership over VIP client site issues – ensuring prompt resolution;  
  • Experience and/or knowledge of monitoring and/or supporting environments involving the following vendor solutions & realms of technology: Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Azure, SCOM, PagerDuty, Zabbix, Cisco Switching, DNA Centre, Meraki, F5, VMWare, Microsoft IIS, Simpana, HP ProLiant, MS Teams; 
  • Experience monitoring and/or supporting networked applications (CRM/ERP, SharePoint, SQL); 
  • Experience working with UNIX and/or Linux operating systems. 

Assets : 

  • Knowledge of ITSM ServiceNow;
  • Knowledge of PowerShell.
