Position Summary:Decatur Morgan Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Hospitalist team. The APP (either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to hospitalized adult patients in collaboration with our physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. This position plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive inpatient care, improving patient outcomes, and supporting our mission to provide excellent service to the community.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:• Perform comprehensive history and physical exams on adult inpatients.• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions under the supervision or collaboration of the Hospitalist physicians.• Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, and order appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures.• Monitor and reassess patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed.• Participate in daily patient rounds, handoffs, and interdisciplinary care planning.• Provide timely and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).• Respond to emergencies and changes in patient condition in a timely manner.• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams to provide updates and education.• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.  Licensure & Certification: Active Alabama license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. National certification (AANP, ANCC for NPs; NCCPA for PAs). BLS and ACLS certifications required.  Experience: Inpatient or acute care experience preferred but not required. New graduates with strong clinical rotations in hospital medicine may be considered.         Skills: Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in using EMR systems (experience with Meditech Expanse a plus).
