Unarmed Security Guard – Coffee Shop (Customer-Facing Role, Day Shift)

Position: Security Officer - UnarmedLocation: Kansas City, MissouriPay Rate: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour DOEShift Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00am to 2:00pm

We are seeking a professional and reliable Security Officer to provide a safe and welcoming environment for employees, customers, and visitors at a busy local coffee shop. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys customer service while maintaining strong situational awareness and ensuring safety standards. Key duties include ensuring that sidewalks and entrances remain clear for accessibility, monitoring alleyways and doorways to promote staff safety, and addressing any disruptive or unsafe behaviors in a professional and respectful manner.
This role requires strong situational awareness and the ability to de-escalate conflicts while maintaining excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be approachable, observant, and committed to creating a welcoming environment for everyone who visits the coffee shop.

What You'Ll Be Doing

• Security Presence & Defense: Serve as the first line of defense for clients and sites
• Hazard Awareness: Identify and address safety concerns
• Risk Assessment: Conduct ongoing risk evaluations
• Access Control: Manage access to restricted areas and information
• Guidance: Direct and assist patrons, visitors, and staff.
• Customer Service: Deliver positive interactions with a pleasant and helpful demeanor
• Collaboration: Work with local law enforcement and other security personnel to maintain highest safety standards
• Incident Response: Respond to client security concerns and reports of incidents as they come through the dispatch line
• Incident Documentation: Record and report all security and safety incidents and concerns

What You Need To Have

• Employment Eligibility: Provide 2 forms of ID and eligibility/authorization to work in the US
• Education: High School diploma or GED
• Attitude: Maintain a calm, professional, and customer service-oriented demeanor
• Language Skills: Fluent in English speaking, reading/writing. Spanish is a bonus
• Screening: Ability to pass a urinalysis (site dependent) and criminal background check
• Transportation: Reliable transportation to and from work
• Tech Literacy: Basic technology skills and ownership of a working smartphone and accessible email account
• Physical Ability: Can stand, sit, walk, jog, crouch, bend over, and carry 50lbs in a variety of weather conditions and work environments
