Lumentum is seeking a dynamic Sr. Director of Product and Strategic Marketing to drive thought leadership, shape market perception, and help define our future. This is a high-impact, dual-role position focused on both Strategic Marketing and Product Marketing. Key Responsibilities:

Product Marketing

Your primary objective will be to create impactful, insight-driven content that showcases Lumentum’s innovation and leadership:

Build Product and Customer Insight

  • Partner with Business Units, Product Managers, and Sales to understand products, roadmaps, customers, and key differentiators
  • Identify marketing content opportunities aligned with strategic priorities and trends
  • Engage with customers and participate in internal product discussions to gather insights

Create High-Impact Content

  • Develop and lead creation of technical marketing content including:
  • Support and represent Lumentum at industry webinars, trade shows, and speaking engagements
  • Plan scripts and messaging for product videos, demos, and customer testimonials
  • Own and maintain product-related website content
  • White papers, blog posts, product briefs, case studies, and thought leadership articles
  • Social media messaging and corporate presentations

Strategic Marketing

You’ll play a critical role in shaping long-term technology strategy and market presence.

Technology Strategy & CTO Alignment

  • Collaborate with the CTO office on strategic initiatives and market modeling
  • Translate future product vision into compelling marketing narratives
  • Support customer engagements with innovation roadmaps and feedback gathering
  • Lead structuring of NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) agreements with customers

Industry Thought Leadership

  • Represent Lumentum in industry organizations (e.g., Advanced Photonics Coalition, Ethernet Forum)
  • Seek and contribute to panels, speaking events, and working groups to drive visibility

Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence

  • Provide cross-business roadmap feedback to ensure strategic alignment
  • Support PLMs in customer roadmap discussions when needed
  • Leverage market research firms for insights and distribute key findings internally

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience in product or strategic marketing
  • Strong technical background (engineering or scientific field)
  • Deep industry experience in optical communications or related high-tech sectors
  • Proven ability to create technical marketing content (white papers, blogs, briefs)
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, sales, and engineering teams
  • Confident public speaker and effective customer-facing communicator
  • Experience using market insights and competitive data to drive strategy
  • Knowledge of product roadmaps and aligning marketing efforts with business goals

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS/PhD in a technical discipline)
  • Experience negotiating NRE agreements
  • Active participation in industry groups or technical coalitions
  • Familiarity with global B2B marketing strategies
  • Experience with social media and digital content strategies
  • Background in developing scripts or leading marketing videos and demos

Additional Requirement

  • Presence is required onsite 5 days/week to foster collaboration and productivity.

Pay Range:

P95-USA-1 :$187,450.00 - $267,750.00

Final base salary for the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job location, where work will be performed, qualifications, work history and relevant experience.
