Brandeis University is looking to hire a full time Research Technician in the Marder Lab. This position requires a highly motivated individual to balance independent research with critical lab management tasks. Under the mentorship of a senior researcher, you will utilize a range of neurobiology techniques, including molecular, electrophysiology, and computational methods, while also contributing to publications. You will also be responsible for some essential lab management duties, including supervising undergraduate workers, maintaining a seawater animal facility, and handling lab business accounts. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills to effectively oversee these diverse responsibilities.
Job Description:
Performs complex laboratory maintenance tasks and experimental procedures, including following established methodologies and modifying protocols.
Makes detailed observations, records data, and analyzes results using statistical and computational tools.
Procures inventory and manages shipments and various lab business accounts.
Maintains the sea-water animal facility that houses the lab's research animals.
Supervises and trains of undergraduate research assistants in routine laboratory tasks.
Manages and organizes lab data
Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree strongly preferred in Neuroscience or related.
Relevant work experience is preferred.
Experience with MATLAB, Python, and Java is required.
