Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a high-impact technical leader responsible for optimizing production equipment, processes, and team performance in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role drives process excellence and equipment reliability through data-driven analysis, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate brings high energy, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to lead both engineers and technicians. They will champion operational innovation, resolve complex production challenges, and develop a team capable of independently executing technical improvements that support business growth, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Compiles quality data, establishes regular communication of data, and facilitates action plans to ensure continuous improvement of equipment up-time, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow; designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Conducts product and production failure investigations; implements corrective actions; prepares reports to communicate problem/resolution/progress.
  • Stops or postpones manufacturing of products if quality and/or regulatory concerns have been identified or suspected; coordinates resolution.
  • Strong electrical, pneumatic, PLC troubleshooting background to identify and fix day-to-day equipment issues.
  • Compiles and writes training materials; develops and conducts training sessions.
  • Works collaboratively with appropriate departments/teams to ensure efficient production methods, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Analyzes data for process investigations, productivity improvements, documents and communicates results.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Optimizes control of equipment including preventative maintenance and calibration schedules to equipment and process requirements.
  • Coordinates with R&D Engineering on next generation devices to streamline requirements for manufacturing equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration.
  • Leads a team of equipment control technicians to complete preventative maintenance, calibration, work orders, and maintain equipment documentation compliance in the QMS.
  • Manage team of engineering technicians and engineers to maintain equipment up-time to support production goals.
  • Ensures all manufacturing engineering activities and solutions meet or exceed safety, specifications, standards, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Plans engineering resources based on current / future projects, necessary production support, and facility requirement       
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or equivalent in related field.
  • Three to five years related experience or equivalent, FDA regulated (210/211/820).
  • Two to four years of related experience leading a team of technicians and/or engineers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels – technicians to executives.
  • Demonstrates strong technical writing and investigative writing capability.
  • Familiarity with process validation, change control, and equipment qualification.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS, ERP/MRP, or MES systems preferred.
