Reporting to the Director or Operations Manager, this position is responsible for providing the hospital with the necessary support and management of information as it pertains to all facets of the responsibilities within the Health Information Management Department and all related activities generated from the Health Information Management Department to maintain compliance with JCAHO, Title 22, and all other regulating agencies.
The Health Information Tech is responsible for analyzing medical records for completeness and compliance in accordance with federal and state regulatory guidelines, Joint Commision standards, Medical Staff By-Laws/policies and procedures, and HIM department policies and procedures. This includes reviewing medical records for completeness and assigning deficiencies to appropriate clinical staff, monitoring deficiency analysis work queues and resolving related problems. The HIM Tech is a resource for continuum of care services to hospital staff, medical staff and patients. It is responsible for processing, scanning and indexing medical records for completeness and compliance in accordance with federal and state regulatory guidelines, Joint Commission standards, Medical Staff By-Laws/policies and procedures, and HIM department policies and procedures. This includes scanning all record types into the imaging system ensuring documents are properly indexed, boxed and stored according to retention and retrieval guidelines. The HIM Tech is a resource for continuum of care services to hospital staff, medical staff and patients. Responsibilities may include storefront coverage, patient calls, facilitating quick retrieval of specific requested documentation, preparing birth certificates, and transcription support.

Required Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
- Upon hire: Valid driver’s license and completion of Driver’s Skill Test as required by ministry.
- 2 years Clerical and customer relations functions in an acute care Health Information Department or an equivalent healthcare setting.
