Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the Chile Tax Coordinator in delivering tax advisory, compliance, reporting and policy support to local businesses – while maintaining a global perspective. The focus is on aligning the Group’s tax profile with its global footprint, including through the implementation of global Group tax priorities and initiatives.

The Chile Tax Specialists play a key role in ensuring that the Tax Governance Framework is fully implemented and embedded across all aspects of tax work performed locally, such that tax risk is effectively managed.

Each of the Chile Tax Specialists is responsible for supporting an in-country business and contributing other discrete initiatives and projects.

The Work – Key Outputs and Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as the Group’s values.
  • Provision of subject matter expert (SME) tax technical advice on day-to-day tax matters in the relevant country.
  • Support tax audits, disputes and tax litigation within the country.
  • Raise awareness of tax issues within the Group and effectively communicate them to management.
  • Monitor and communicate legislative changes and practice to the wider tax team and business, as appropriate.
  • Assist in ensuring to transfer pricing policies and procedures and compliance with local transfer pricing regulations, including master file, local file and country-by-country reporting obligations.
  • Develop relationships with key personnel within Group Tax and the local business and ensure they understand and apply Group policies
  • Liaise directly with outside advisors (including auditors, legal counsel and other advisors) to ensure proper and efficient tax planning, business partnering and solution delivery. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Legal degree.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience working in Tax related issues

Desirable: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

  • Strong working experience of technical tax advisory, tax compliance and tax accounting. experience of international tax principles, transfer pricing, tax residence, etc.
  • VAT and employment tax experience advantageous.
  • A proven track record of having worked in a similar role in the Tax field in Commerce, with a Big 4 Accounting firm or a Law firm is required.

Other requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English (intermediate , advanced level for verbal and written).
  • Ability to work in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment with a contact change agenda.
