Schedule: Full-Time | 36 Hours | Day Shift | Call Required
Bonus: Up to $5,000 based on experience*

The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll join a collaborative outpatient surgical services team focused on delivering high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care. This department supports a wide range of surgical specialties in a fast-paced, patient-centered outpatient setting.

As a Surgical Technologist, you'll work under the guidance of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and RN Service Leads to assist surgeons and physicians during procedures. You'll be an essential part of a dedicated surgical team, helping ensure safe, effective, and timely care.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and uphold all sterile field protocols

• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and assist during minimally invasive and outpatient procedures

• Possess detailed knowledge of surgical instrumentation, anatomy, and procedural steps

• Support outpatient surgeries across multiple specialties

• Participate in quality improvement, training, and safety initiatives

• Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and a team-first attitude in all interactions

Career Ladder & Qualifications

This role is part of a career ladder. Placement is based on education, experience, and certification level.

Surgical Technologist I

• Associate of Science in Surgical Technology OR completion of a structured program

• AST Certification*

• CPR – AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

• *Certification required if no surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013

Surgical Technologist II

• Same as Tech I, plus:

• 2+ years of surgical technologist experience

• 1 year at BMC or equivalent experience

• Completion of all orientation competencies

Surgical Technologist III

• Same as Tech I, plus:

• 4+ years of surgical technologist experience

• 1 year of employment at Baystate Health

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

Baystate Health offers competitive total compensation, including base pay, benefits, and recognition programs. Salary is based on factors like education, experience, and certifications. Incentive pay and sign-on bonuses may be available based on role and eligibility.

Sign-On Bonus Eligibility

• Up to $5,000 for qualified external hires based on experience

• Internal candidates and transfers are not eligible unless otherwise noted

• Former Baystate employees may qualify after one year of separation
