Role Description
Reporting to the Vice President of Decarbonisation and Consulting, the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power Lead – Middle East will be responsible for the growth, performance and quality of delivery for the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power portfolio across the Middle East region.
This is a seller-doer role which will lead the business development activities in the region in relation to Energy Storage and Hybrid Power, with a key focus on developing strategic client relationships that enable the growth of the business. The role shall also be the focal point for the delivery of Energy Storage and Hybrid Power work secured regionally. Initially this will be achieved by leveraging the technical support available across EMEA and as the portfolio of work increases it is expected that the role will lead the growth an Energy Storage and Hybrid Power team in the Middle East and will be accountable for the performance of that team. As a technical focal point for the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power discipline, this role will collaborate with the global network of execution centres to support work outside of the Middle East, whether proposals, business development or technical support, and to advance our collective Energy Storage and Hybrid Power capability across Wood.
The role will require travelling across the region to meet Wood’s key clients, represent the business at external events, position the business for future opportunities and to act as a focal point for work in execution.
Typical responsibilities
1. Business Development – Identify and lead business development opportunities to drive the growth of the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power portfolio in the Middle East and contribute as required to relevant strategy discussions with senior management responsible for the region. Provide support to global execution centres through guidance and review of draft project proposals to win new work and in undertaking client engagement activities.
2. Portfolio Management – Responsible for the growth and performance of the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power portfolio in the Middle East, working initially with regional execution centres to resource projects to meet client expectations for cost, schedule and quality of delivery.
3. Recruitment & People Management – This role will be responsible for identifying the need to recruit specialised staff to ensure adequate Energy Storage and Hybrid Power resource and skills are in place to meet business needs. As work materialises in region, the role will develop and lead a team which is capable to provide local execution within the Middle East and can collaborate with global execution centres to offer stretch capacity and optimal resource utilisation.
4. Governance – Ensure people management and general business delivery is done so in accordance with the requirement of the Business Management System.
5. Financial – Monitor and report on the financial status of the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power portfolio. Ensure the profitability of the team is maximised by minimising overhead costs and indirect time bookings.
6. Information & Reporting – Upwardly report on the status of proposals, projects, and opportunities. Disseminate company information and required working practices to the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power teams.
7. Strategy – Prepare, communicate and manage the strategy for the Energy Storage and Hybrid Power service for the Middle East region and provide input to the other regions as required.
8. Leadership – Lead, coach, motivate and develop direct reports to optimise performance and employee capability and share personal professional experience and knowledge.
