Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Geology, Geography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related quantitative field.
Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of scientific computing, data assimilation, and machine learning frameworks. Expertise in modeling geophysical systems. Strong proficiency in machine learning libraries such as PyTorch. Proficiency in writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code. Knowledge of mathematics including linear algebra and partial differential equations. Ability to implement software solutions based on technical specifications provided by researchers. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative software development.
