Job Overview:

The Associate Financial Analyst is crucial for providing analytical support to our financial and operational leadership, enhancing decision-making through budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial modeling. This role is key to optimizing financial planning and analysis functions, directly affecting the company's profitability.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analytical reviews of revenue streams and associated expenses to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Perform variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and historical data, providing root cause analysis and insights to guide financial strategies.
  • Develop detailed customer-based Profit and Loss statements to assess individual account profitability and inform strategic decisions.
  • Design and maintain financial models to assist Executives and Operational stakeholders in making well-informed decisions, enhancing overall business performance.
  • Data extraction, transformation, and reporting automation. data cleansing and analyzing large datasets to support business analytics.
  • Collaborate with operational managers to construct financial forecasting models, employing analytics to predict weekly profitability with precision.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to stakeholders, identify potential financial risks, recommending process optimizations, and advocate for the elimination of non-value-added activities.
  • Support management in executing ad-hoc projects, contributing to the company’s agile response to emerging business challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A BA/BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred, establishing a solid foundation in financial analysis and business acumen.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally within the Transportation and Logistics industry, demonstrating an understanding of sector-specific financial dynamics.
  • Proficient in Power BI, DAX, and M (Power Query); advanced SQL skills with expertise in CASE statements, data type conversions, subqueries, temporary table creation, and window functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential financial matters.
  • Strong communication and technical skills for effective collaboration and presentation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility for travel as needed, supporting the company’s operations and strategic initiatives across various locations.

Physical Demands:

  • Extended Sitting: Primarily desk-based with prolonged computer use.
  • Computer Use: Frequent operation of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
  • Eye Strain and Repetitive Motion: Risk from continuous screen use and repetitive tasks like typing.
  • Office Navigation:  Light walking and standing for meetings and tasks within the office.
  • Light Lifting: Occasional handling of objects up to 20 pounds.
