The Role
Are you good at working with data? Do you want to leverage AI-powered solutions to detect fraudulent activity and help protect your clients' businesses? As a Data Science Intern, you'll team up with our best and brightest to learn, share ideas, and apply innovative solutions that directly impact the industries and communities we serve. You will be at the forefront of applying advanced analytics and existing machine learning models to combat digital fraud, gaining hands-on experience in a critical and rapidly evolving field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use Python & PySpark to analyze large-scale data and apply existing machine learning models to classify fraudulent activity.
  • Build data pipelines to process and aggregate data at scale, specifically for generating features that feed into our AI-driven fraud detection systems.
  • Conduct analysis of graph data to generate features and identify patterns, leveraging AI for advanced anomaly detection and insights into connectivity.
  • Present research findings to a large audience, from highly technical to business and customer-focused teams, effectively communicating the value and impact of your data-driven insights.
  • Support the operationalization of our fraud detection system, including data parsing, feature generation, integration with requisite databases, and monitoring performance.

Who You Are

  • Educated. Working towards a degree or graduating in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field of study. Professional experience may be used in place of relevant education.
  • Discrete. You demonstrate the ability to maintain a high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality of sensitive, complex information.
  • Analytical. You have an eye for detail and can interpret data into simple, intuitive information, particularly from the output of complex AI systems.
  • Detail-oriented. You have a keen eye for the little things, and you're comfortable working with granular details.
  • Organized and agile. You have excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills. You can work in a fast-paced environment to support a rapidly growing technology company.
  • Exceptional communication skills. Whether it's written or verbal, people know what you mean, what you are asking for, and what is expected, especially when explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient. You are proficient in Python, SQL, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and G Suite Programs (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides).
  • Knowledgeable. You are familiar with Python libraries such as NetworkX, Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-Learn. A strong understanding of machine learning principles and experience with applying AI frameworks is a significant plus.

Bonus Points

  • Are familiar with multiprocessing and multithreading in Python.
  • Have experience with large-scale graph data.
  • Are familiar with common SaaS applications such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.\
