Job Description

The Business Development Lead plays a critical role in building and managing the top of funnel lead generation engine.  This role will fuel our sales pipeline by identifying, qualifying, and nurturing potential customers. This role will fuel VusionGroup’s commercial growth strategy—using data, creativity, and communication skills to connect with the right prospects and drive interest in our products and services. 

There is a strong emphasis on driving business value and solution selling with the customer being the center of everything we do.  This role will accelerate the pace of transformation, enable and develop market opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in advancing selling skillsets in the field, executing sales enablement programs, and the ability to drive cross-functional teams through outcome-based enablement strategies. This role requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as a proven record of accomplishment in leading sales enablement programs. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong sales background, with experience in enablement, sales development, and previous experience in assessing the needs of a go-to-market business to deliver meaningful enablement programs. This role requires a well-rounded individual who has excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as a proven track record in enablement and training programs. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Be a Change Agent in the Organization to drive changes in sales behavior, top of funnel pipeline management, opportunity creation and operational rigor. 

Lead Generation: 

  • Research and identify potential clients through online platforms, databases, and industry events. 
  • Develop and execute targeted campaigns based on personas and specific messaging based on customer priorities / pain points. 
  • Qualify leads based on predefined criteria (budget, authority, need, timeline) 
  • Assess lead fit based on predefined criteria and pass qualified leads to the sales team for follow-up Maintain and update CRM with accurate lead data and activity logs 
  • Collaborate with marketing to optimize messaging and targeting strategies 
  • Engage with and understand channel partners strengths to maximize conversion of non-named accounts in the grocery and c-store space.  
  • Engage with the sales team to define and track the sample process and partner with marketing to ensure proper messaging and branding for our customers. 
  • Find ways to simplify and streamline the lead generation process and ensure the teams understand origin of the leads and the messaging for timely and precision follow up. 

Business Development:

  • Build and nurture relationships with prospects and strategic partners 
  • Conduct discovery calls to understand client needs and pain points 
  • Present company solutions and value propositions effectively 
  • Coordinate with sales team to transition qualified leads into opportunities 
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts 

 Reporting & Strategy:

  • Provide weekly reports to leadership on pipeline health and growth opportunities 
  • Offer insights to improve outreach tactics and sales enablement tools 
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and market shifts 
  • Monitor lead conversion metrics and campaign performance 
  • Maintain accurate records of lead interactions and status in CRM systems (Salesforce) 
  • Monitor KPIs such as lead volume, conversion rates, and campaign effectiveness; provide regular reports and insights by sales rep and channel partner.  Follow lead through sales lifecycle of creating a qualified opportunity through closure of the sale. 

Qualifications

Qualifications we're looking for. 

  • Experience: 
    • 5+ years in sales enablement  
    • 5+ years in sales or supporting sales roles.
  • Skills: 
    • Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) 
    • Familiarity with lead gen tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Apollo) 
  • Abilities:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
    • Strong Presentation Skills and Message Delivery 
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally 
    • Data-driven mindset with attention to detail 
  • Education: 
    • Bachelors / master’s degree or equivalent
