Your Opportunity
One Permanent Full Time Position.
Reporting to the Senior Lead, US Commercial Reporting, the Senior Specialist, Commercial Reporting supports the U.S. flex-gen fleet in the PJM market by preparing financial reports and analyzing trends to inform business decisions. This role requires strong knowledge of power plant operations, energy markets, and advanced analytical and accounting skills. Key responsibilities include developing valuation models, evaluating contracts, leading budgets and forecasts, and supporting asset management and commercial opportunities.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities
- Understanding plant operating characteristics, providing strategic advice and insightful commentary as a financial expert on U.S. flex-gen facilities, directly influencing high-level business decisions.
- Leading the development of the long-term plan, annual budget, and quarterly forecasts for the assigned facilities, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Analyzing and reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual variances, with a focus on the business and key drivers/trends.
- Providing comprehensive financial insights and updates that drive overall business success and optimization of value for the assigned assets, including value-add targets assigned to Commercial Management for each asset.
- Providing input and recommendations that will impact strategic decisions, including providing financial data input and technical accounting advice to inform corporate acquisitions and divestiture decisions.
- Providing guidance and draft assigned sections of strategic asset management plans for the assigned generation facilities.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal subject matter experts and other key stakeholders by managing and optimizing the process, timelines, expectations, and flow of information between the Commercial team and other cross functional groups.
- Delivering responses to analytical requests and/or data to the supported business partners in Commercial Management, Operations, and other functional areas of the company.
- Preparing financial models and written summaries to support project initiatives, budget presentations, and other commercial activities.
- Ensuring procedures are well-developed and established internal controls operate effectively, and that all analysis reflects key trends, assumptions and drivers to ensure business analysis that will enhance overall financial results.
- Identifying and executing process improvement opportunities to continually improve efficiency and automate tasks.
- Staying updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial reporting.
Education and Experience
Education
- Completed degree in engineering, accounting, economics, finance or related field.
- A professional accounting designation or equivalent is an asset.
- A master’s degree is an asset.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in finance with accounting, financial and analytical roles; preferably in the deregulated electricity or other related industry.
- Knowledge and experience in the power industry and/or PJM knowledge is preferred.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and an ability to handle a dynamic and full workload.
- Ability to work effectively with non-financial individuals.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Presents well with the ability to represent the company with external parties.
- Ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders and foster positive relationships on multi-disciplinary issues.
- Takes initiative and can manage ambiguity and conflict with the ability to effectively exercise influence.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle, and/or Hyperion is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid office/work from home position based at our PJM Office
- Some overtime required during peak times.
- Some travel to locations across North America will be required.
Additional Details
The pay range for this position is $115,330 to $127,470. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.
This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.
Clearance of credit check is required for this position.
