We're seeking a dynamic HR Specialist (People & Culture Specialist) based in the Netherlands to provide tactical HR support to our team of ~40 employees and ~70 freelancers. This is a 1 year contract position with potential for extension based on performance.
This is a HR generalist/administrator role where you'll be the cornerstone of our Netherlands HR operations. You'll provide essential day-to-day operational support while ensuring HR continuity and compliance with Dutch labour law. Working independently as our local HR presence, you'll have the unique opportunity to contribute to foundational HR setup. You'll work closely with local leadership in the Netherlands and HR/payroll professionals in the UK and Canada.
What you’ll do:
Employee Lifecycle Management - Complete onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and freelancers
Workday System Support - Accurate data entry and maintenance in our global HRIS platform
Compliance & Documentation - Keep personnel files up to date in accordance with Dutch legislation
Health & Wellness Coordination - Liaise with occupational health providers for sick leave management and employee wellbeing
Daily Employee Support - Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries, providing timely and accurate guidance to managers and employees on a variety of topics including leave, employment contracts, personal circumstances etc.
Support with other related HR projects as required
What you bring:
1-3+ years HR experience covering full employee lifecycle management
Education: Completed HRM training, at least level 4, would be an advantage
Dutch Labour Law Knowledge - Familiarity with regulations or demonstrated ability to research and apply independently
HRIS Expertise - Experience with HR information systems (Workday strongly preferred)
Self-Starter Mentality - Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working independently
Organizational Excellence - Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail
Communication - Fluent in Dutch with professional working proficiency in English (essential)
Technical Proficiency - Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Adaptability - Quick to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment
Problem-Solving - Proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
HRBP Experience or clear ambition to grow into a business partner role
ISO Process Familiarity - Experience with ISO 9001 & ISO 27001 certified processes
Standalone HR Experience - Previous experience as the sole HR representative in an organization
International Experience - Background in Dutch companies or international organizations operating under Dutch labour law
