Shift is from 12:00pm-8:30pm including a 30 minute lunch break.
Pay Range
$20.40 - $30.60EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma.
- Lab tech or equivalent related clinical experience with two years anatomic pathology experience preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitates the accessioning and preparation of inpatient, outpatient and outreach anatomic pathology specimens in a timely manner, by entering patient data and physician order information into various systems.
- Provides excellent customer service to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. Facilitation of this process includes transporting specimens to various lab departments in accordance with QA and department policies and procedures.
- Prioritizes registrations in the order of the patient's acuity level that is determined by the clinical staff where appropriate.
- Develops and maintains knowledge and skills to identify insurance plans correctly and updates the patient information and the insurance database where appropriate.
- Ensures completeness and accuracy of registration data by reviewing the patient and order information prior to ordering in the various LIS systems. Recognizes and follows up on incomplete or inconsistent registration information and contacts Client Services to obtain the needed information where appropriate.
- Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment by properly identifying patients prior to placing orders, labeling specimens correctly and notifying coworkers and involved lab sections when misidentifications are encountered.
