Job Summary
Provide support for initiatives that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and system software solutions. Oversee the maintenance, currency, and monitoring of operating systems and software solutions. Communicate with hardware and software partners for the evaluation of new product offerings, problem identification and resolutions, and promotion of strong relationships. Collaborate with other mainframe system engineers, software engineers, and technical leadership to provide expert technical guidance and assistance. Analyze current software and business requirements to determine the most cost-effective and standard software solutions to be adopted and utilized. Support change, problem, and incident management processes and procedures set forth by the technology organization.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in Transportation Operations, Information Systems/Technology, or Logistics
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 10 or more years of experience in Transportation Operations, Information Systems/Technology, or Logistics
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in Transportation Operations, Information Systems/Technology, or Logistics
- 10 or more years of supervisory experience in Transportation Operations, Information Systems/Technology, or Logistics
Knowledge and Skills
- Relevant programming/scripting languages (Assembler, REXX, JCL, COBOL, Python)
- Experience with mainframe database (DB2, IMS) and middleware solutions (CICS, MQ Series)
- Storage management experience across multiple vendors including DASD, virtual tape, and replication functions.
- Installing, customizing, and maintaining the z/OS operating system and related software.
- Understanding of RACF functionality for security controls and reporting.
- Monitoring system performance, identifying issues, and optimizing environments.
- Usage of tools and techniques to identify and alleviate performance challenges via manual and automated processes.
- Grasp of mainframe networking capabilities including VTAM and TCP/IP.
- Ability to manage time effectively while prioritizing responsibilities
- Technical agility and strong analytical skills, excellent customer service skills and written/verbal communication skills
