Full Time
The Postdoctoral Scholar works at the interface of pangenomics and telomere-to-telomere (T2T) genomes. This position studies nuclear-mitochondrial segments (NUMTs) and their functional consequences using the BXD mouse population.
- Develops tools for telomere-telomere pangenomics in the BXD, AD-BXD, and UM-Het3 mouse populations.
- Detects NUMTs, and identifies their functional consequences on mitochondria, aging and inflammation.
- Research as part of long-term, multi-institutional, collaborations using the BXD family of mice, and the AD-BXD Alzheimer's disease model.
- Develops tools to identify links between NUMTs and longevity, and part of this new project will be to elucidate the pathway by which this association takes place.
- Develops and deploys a web-based app to collect and share mouse longevity data to the community.
- Identifies novel genetic associations with lifespan in mice.
- Writes journal articles, book chapters, grant proposals and progress reports.
