Title: Shipper/ Receiver
Reports To: Team Leader - Logistics
Hours of work: 7:00a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
Location: 2621 Gore Road, Shanty Bay
Job Purpose: Using RF scanners, pick, pack and prepare stock or product for shipping. Receive parts or product and transport to correct storage location.
Key Responsibilities:
• Shipping: Operate RF hand scanners to pick, sort and stack product on pallets in a manner that efficiently facilitates the packing and shipping of orders
• Shipping: Prepare product to be shipped out; packing/strapping product (shrink wrap, etc.).
• Shipping: Using TMS (computer software that is used to select courier).
• Shipping: Job shadowing with peers on day-to-day workings of the position.
• Shipping: Troubleshoot, identifying cycle counts and inventory discrepancies. (Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices or orders to verify accuracy of shipments).
• Shipping: Learn how to properly load trucks (packing, packaging and labeling containers or parts to properly identify their destination and ensure their protection during shipment)
• Shipping: Deal with damaged product.
• Shipping: Generate packing slips from WMS (size, weight, carrier, etc.).
• Shipping: Train temporary general laborers on wrapping, strapping, helping with quality control, reworks, etc.
• Receiving: Unload trucks (load, unload, stack and move products and materials by hand or using material handling equipment).
• Receiving: Perform item counts- Verify counts based on packing slips
• Receiving: Use WMS to determine where to put items away. Put items away in proper location. Stores all received product in the designated areas.
• Receiving: Using RF Scanners to manage products.
• Receiving: Learn to receive in system under supervision of the Team Leader. Ensure documentation is accurately processed and distributed in a timely manner
• Receiving: Identify damaged product (Inspects all incoming trucks according to company guidelines).
• Receiving: Identify parts that are not set up in system properly
Education & Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a shipping and receiving role, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Knowledge of shipping/receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs paperwork.
• Must have an existing forklift certification and be able to pass an internal training & testing program. Additional training or certification in logistics, transportation, or supply chain is an asset. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification may be required for the role. Internal training and certification will be provided if necessary.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP software, RF scanners).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inventory counts.
• Ability to read and interpret shipping orders, product labels, and inventory codes.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to react and re-prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Adherence to health and safety protocols and safe work practices at all times.
