Under the direction of the Clinical Training Manager / RN, the Clinical Trainer / MA is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining training materials and programs based on knowledge of identified clinical training needs, clinic operations, or changes in procedures or services. Serves as subject matter expert in VFC (Vaccines For Children) program requirements. Performs MA duties as part of training requirements. 

Duties And Responsibilities:

  1. Mentors, trains, and provides guidance to clinical support staff in daily operations and provides ongoing training support.  Conducts performance assessments and chart audits for new and existing clinical support personnel.
  2. Provides training for clinical support staff on immunizations and other injectable medications. Serves as subject matter expert in VFC immunizations ordering, storage, and reporting requirements.
  3. Analyzes clinical training needs and appropriately advises managers of training performance deficiencies by making improvements to training content, curriculum, and delivery as needed. 
  4. Completes projects and assignments as directed by department manager and operations leadership to facilitate process improvement.   
  5. Provides direct routine patient care to include clinical procedures, as required within the MA scope of practice as part of training.  
  6. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  7. Consistently demonstrates a service-oriented mindset by providing excellent internal/external customer service. Ensures all actions, job performance, personal conduct, and communications represent the Center in a highly professional manner at all times. Develops and maintains good interpersonal relationships and partnerships with all departments. 
  8. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Job Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required 

Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Medical Assistant required

One (1) year training experience in a health care setting preferred 

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Primary Health Care required

Experience with EMR/EHR required

Strong Communication Skills

Ability to plan and organize

Ability to perform well under stress

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Knowledgeable of personal computers to include internet/intranet navigations

Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association

Ability to work at various clinic sites to include patient care as part of training requirement

Ability to travel from site to site within various counties using personal vehicle

REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.  Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.

Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.

Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.

Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.  Ability to accurately view computer monitors

Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs.  Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
