In this critical role, you will oversee the financial operations of our subsidiaries in India, Canada, and the U.K. and work closely with the U.S. team by maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance, and providing financial insights. You will play a crucial role in supporting the organization by ensuring the company’s accounting operations run smoothly, and will have the opportunity to expand and grow your role as the company scales.
What you will do:
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update accounting records, including the general ledger. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
- Bank Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank statements to verify accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Keep balance sheet accounts clean and up-to-date. Perform regular reconciliations for accuracy.
- Fixed Assets and Prepaid Schedules: Update and maintain the fixed assets register. Manage prepaid expenses and ensure proper accounting.
- Intercompany Transactions: Handle financial transactions between the international subsidiaries and other entities within the organization. Ensure proper documentation and compliance.
- Cash Flow Projections: Prepare cash flow forecasts based on historical data and future plans. Monitor liquidity and recommend actions as needed.
- Month-End and Year-End Closes: Lead closing processes, including accruals and adjustment journal entries. Conduct flux analysis to identify trends and anomalies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Independently engage with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regarding financial matters. Research and interpret data to address inquiries.
- Compliance and Tax Filings: Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, and timely tax filings. Collaborate with tax professionals as needed.
- Process Improvement and Documentation: Continuously enhance financial processes and controls. Document procedures and best practices.
- Professional Development: Stay informed by participating in educational opportunities, reading industry publications, and networking. Engage with professional organizations to expand your knowledge base.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and mentoring to team members.
What Cowbell needs from you:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field required: Masters preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant India, US & UK accounting experience
- US & UK GAAP experience
- Netsuite, Snowflake, and Salesforce experience is a plus
- Insurance accounting experience is a plus
- Statutory accounting required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented
- Experience creating and managing procedures and documentation
- Flexible and open to change, innovation, and new information
- High level of organization and a willingness to problem-solve
- Sense of urgency and mission-driven and must know how to manage pressure.
