JOB DESCRIPTION:
What You Will Do:
The General Accounting Supervisor is responsible for day to day General Accounting (GA) operations for the Nutrition US and Puerto Rico locations. The GA Supervisor assists with leading a team of 4 people in Lake County and provides direction to 4 people based in India with Abbott’s outsource partner. The GA Supervisor will ensure that the general accounting processes are compliant with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Abbott Policies, and controls across all divisions and legal entities for their respective region.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Coordination between Financial Planning and Analysis, Corporate Financial Service, outsourced team and other functional areas to ensure effective month-end close. Oversees the maintenance of accounts and records by supervising the close process each month. Compiles and analyzes financial information through preparation of reports, general ledger entries and other financial transactions. Performs monthly review of account reconciliations, reviews monthly workbooks for errors, prepares quarterly balance sheet review worksheets, and provides guidance to staff as necessary. Collects and reviews data requested by auditors (internal and external). Develop and maintain processes to support GL reconciliation functions. Identifies, develops and implements processes to improve department performance. Participate in process reviews as a part of continuous improvement activities. Ensure cross-functional collaboration across process owners to implement standard, efficient processes. Assist and support in the assessment of impact of change initiatives. Interacts with internal customers, by meeting regularly, responding to requests and explaining procedures. Establishes and communicates accounting policies to staff by maintaining a thorough understanding of GAAP and new accounting guidance as appropriate. Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to staff to achieve project goals. Coach and mentor staff to perform effectively in their role. Complete ad hoc analysis, reviews or reports within Divisions and Corporate functions as necessary.
Position Accountability / Scope:
Works closely with accounting staff to meet deadlines and works with others in the organization to provide requested information from accounting groups as needed. The position will also have significant interaction with other financial management across the Divisions and Corporate functions, and with Abbott's external and internal auditors. Reports directly to CFS RTR Sr. Manager.
Education and Experience You Will Bring:
The role requires a bachelor’s degree of Accounting or Finance plus 6 to 8 years of accounting experience and 3 to 5 years of leadership experience. Candidates must have strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills and the ability to interact with various levels of finance personnel, including senior financial management. Candidates must be able to manage multiple tasks and work in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Candidate Qualifications:
Prefer candidates with CPA and auditing experience with a large accounting firm. Knowledge and application of accounting concepts, policies & procedures, and best practices to solve routine problems. Qualified candidates must be able to exercise independent decision making. 3 to 5 years working experience with SAP preferably.
Travel Requirements:
Travel required domestically, and International travel to Noida, India. At least 1-2 times a year depending on business needs.

The base pay for this position is
$85,300.00 – $170,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
