Base Wage: $100,000 annually

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Position Summary:

The Strategic Accounts Manager is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in the assigned market. Staffs and directs a sales team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area and contributes to the development of training and educational programs for clients and Account Executives.

  • Develops and executes strategic business plan to drive growth in revenue and profitability.
  • Develops and implements specific marketing and sales plans consistent with the growth and profitability goals for products.
  • Responsible for the performance and development of the Account Executives      
  • Prepares action plans by individuals as well as by team for effective search of sales leads and prospects   
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.         
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.   
  • Conducts one-on-one review with all Account Executives to build more effective communications.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.         
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.      
  • Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, and activity reports submitted by Account Executives.       
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses.   
  • Assists Account Executives in preparation of proposals and presentations.       
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team             
  • Ensures that all Account Executives meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closings.
  • Delegates authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up.         
  • Maintains contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Sales Manager.
  • Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Occupation requires being sedentary less than or equal to 75% of the time (< 6 hours per day).
  • Stand, walk, sit, hearing, talking, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
  • Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull up to a maximum of 25 lbs. without assistance
  • Travel required both vehicle and air
Work Environment:
  • May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
  • Position works primarily in an office/cubicle environment
  • Sales presentations via one-on-one/ conference presentations with primary decision-maker(s)
  • Constant Telephone Activity; high comfort level of initiating conversation
  • Constant work environment change depending upon phone activity or customer face-to-face visits
  • Quiet to Moderate Noise Levels
  • Traffic congestion or air travel delays

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in sales and customer service management
  • 5-7 years of experience in steel service sales
  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or relevant course of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, accountable organization.
  • Ability to communicate both oral & written effectively with internal & external customers.
  • Strong understanding of customer requirements and market dynamics
  • Ability to respond effectively to time-sensitive and problematic & precarious inquiries and complaints.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and generate valid & concise conclusions.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Represents the management in a highly professional manner, exercises diplomacy and maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Proven leadership and the ability to motivate sales teams
  • Computer Literacy; Microsoft Office Products and ERP.
