Our Lakeshore Union Controls and Development department is looking for an experienced Planning Manager to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will be responsible for establishing the strategy and plan to develop detailed construction project schedules by engaging various project teams and internal and external stakeholder groups. The development of the project schedule requires the integration of various schedules within the program and the management of interfaces. You will drive effective schedule progress measurement practices, forward-looking schedule analysis, and reporting, while demonstrating strong agility, adaptability, and accountability within a collaborative team environment.
- Collaborates closely with the project team to perform constructability reviews, which serve as the basis for developing project schedules at various levels.
- Identify project objectives, key milestones, and activities
- Establishes schedule logic, estimates durations, and assigns resources and interfaces for all activities and milestones.
- Implements procurement strategy and models in the process of schedule development.
- Conducts schedule progress analysis and risk assessment, and regularly updates schedule by: implementing and monitoring schedule within each project stage and for entire project until completion or close-out to identifying progress achieved and making resulting changes to the sequence and duration of project activities.
- Evaluates critical and near-critical path activities and closely monitors these activities.
- Tracks progress against the baseline schedule, monitors actual performance, and identifies any schedule variances. Works closely with the project team to identify reasons for variances and implement corrective actions.
- Creates schedule scenarios as required to support items that have the potential for future impact within the project schedule.
- Provides regular updates to the project team on the project's progress, schedule changes, and potential impacts. Prepares schedule reports, including milestone reports, progress reports, and variance analysis.
- Assesses risks that could impact the project schedule, including internal or external dependencies, and works closely with the project team to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Prepares and implements project-wide progress measurement and reporting system, including roll- up levels, section weighting and reporting cycle calendar.
- Contributes to Metrolinx Integrated Master Schedule, interfaces with schedulers within capital projects.
- Prepares progress status reports and disseminates to key stakeholders, with attention to confidentiality, security, and urgency of data.
- Completion of university degree in engineering, business administration, information studies or related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in the fields of Transit or Infrastructure project are required.
- Expert in Primavera P6 is mandatory requirement.
- Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project planning and scheduling along with an understanding of the principles and concepts of critical path analysis, crashing the schedule, what-if scenario development, development of recovery schedules & earned value analysis/management
- Experience in LRT, Subway, Railway, Transit, and typical linear civil construction projects is an asset.
- Proficient in developing and implementing earned value methods for mega project during construction phase, Solid knowledge, and experience in change management.
- Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to liaise with project team members, external agencies, Contractors and consultants.
