Reporting to the Manager, Primary Care, Cancer Screening and Cancer Imaging and working within and across the RCP portfolios, the Quality and Performance Consultant will be responsible for meeting OH-CCO, and internally defined, deliverables through integration into the clinic space, performing quality audits, defining observations against guidelines and standards, supporting the development and implementation of corrective actions, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented corrective action plans. Through assessment and evaluation of key metrics, the role will provide suggestions and guide strategic initiatives to improve performance and quality outcomes utilizing the identification and implementation of guidelines and standards to support best practice.

The Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program (MHCW RCP) oversees the delivery and quality of cancer services for more than 2.2 million residents living in the Central West and Mississauga Halton region. Regional Cancer Programs are part of Ontario’s cancer system leading local strategy implementation to provide person-centred, safe, equitable, efficient, effective, and timely cancer care on a foundation of quality improvement principles.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Primary Care, Cancer Screening and Cancer Imaging and working within and across the RCP portfolios, the Quality and Performance Consultant will be responsible for meeting OH-CCO, and internally defined, deliverables through integration into the clinic space, performing quality audits, defining observations against guidelines and standards, supporting the development and implementation of corrective actions, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented corrective action plans. Through assessment and evaluation of key metrics, the role will provide suggestions and guide strategic initiatives to improve performance and quality outcomes utilizing the identification and implementation of guidelines and standards to support best practice.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the design, implementation and evaluation of deliverables as defined by OH-CCO, and as defined by regional needs
- Lead and support knowledge transfer events with a focus on cancer treatment modalities
- Work on initiatives to improve provincial scorecard indicators for the region
- Work on capacity evaluation and improvement through models of care standards
- Work with clinical leads to design and implement project deliverables
- Perform quality assessment evaluation and propose initiatives in the ambulatory environment to improve access to care
- Support the Regional Cancer Center (RCC) and hospitals in our region in developing strategies to manage cancer volumes and wait times performance
- Evaluate quarterly performance data and provide analysis to create action plans to improve wait times
- Lead market share analysis to provide recommendations for access to care closer to home
- Assist with strategy and planning initiatives, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to optimize opportunities for collaboration
- Attend meetings to support regional initiatives
- Support all portfolios across the cancer patient pathway as needed
- Work with the Regional Leads to identify opportunities for improvement and understand current state challenges
- Assist with the development of annual work plans; identify key initiatives, performance measures/benchmarks, timelines and targets
- Support the implementation of initiatives outlined in the work plans
- Using model of care standards, assess hospital compliance and develop an approach to improve access to quality of care with a focus on outcomes
Key Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in a health-related field preferred
- Masters in healthcare and/or quality related field is an asset
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a role that has a strong emphasis on quality improvement in a health care environment: previous experience in healthcare environment such as hospital, government agency, primary care, research institute, etc. an asset
- Project management experience an asset
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and performance metrics, must be results and outcomes oriented
- Demonstrated understanding of corrective action plans and effectiveness verification strategies
- Excellent organizational, project planning and relationship building skills
- Strong communications and excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be able to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
