Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a Contracts and Procurement Services Leader to join our Delivery Phase Services (DPS) team.
The primary role of Contracts and Procurement Services Leader is to lead and grow the Contracts and Procurement (C&P) team in the pursuit and delivery of C&P services for clients on complex projects within DPS and other regions within Australia.
Our DPS team is a virtual region sitting across the country. We welcome candidates located throughout Australia with an ability to bring a team together, work cohesively, and work towards the same goal. We welcome applications from candidates located in any city with a GHD office.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Lead the growth and development of the team, using client processes, systems and procedures for the delivery of contracts and procurements services for DPS projects
- Providing governance over the contract and procurement services provided direct to clients, usually via client processes and procedures
- Providing governance over the GHD/client contract and procurement services cost/time/resource estimates (for direct tender input and input to client planning as part of study phases)
- Become the contact for contract and procurement services with key clients to support strategy development, escalation of issues and support for key projects / packages or contract issues
- Assist in the delivery of C&P work for clients as required.
Team leadership responsibilities also include:
- Planning and performance:
- Identify and implement contract and procurement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Develop and implement an annual business plan for the team;
- Proactively manage team performance and people;
- Manage and mitigate risk, ensure the safety of the people within the team, and that projects are managed in line with GHD’s Quality, HSE and IMS compliance standards
- Client focus: Champion GHD's Client Experience principles and ensure these are upheld within the group
- People management: Develop and mentor employees and lead team engagement
- Project delivery leadership: Manage the allocation of people to projects, foster clear communication and project leadership within the team
- Support the month-end invoicing, forecasting and oversee financial management of the team.
What you will bring to the team:
- Ability to lead a team comprising different skill levels who are engaged in different stages of a project lifecycle, for different clients
- Experience in contracting & procurement strategy development and implementation
- Experience in the review of all forms of contractual and commercial documentation including various forms of contracts, contracting plans, commercial letters, variations, assessment of and drafting responses to contractor claims
- Experience in negotiations on behalf of clients
- Project delivery mind set and general understanding of project construction methodology
- General understanding of common law practices and regulations in relation to contract management
- Experience in tender compilation including modifications to standard client documentation
- Experience dealing with contractors and suppliers in relation to contract and procurement management
- Experience in analysis, management and negotiation of claims
- Strong communicator and influencer
- A collaborator who works well nationally and brings people together for the best collective outcomes.
