Inventory Clerk

Education & Experience:

Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that are required by Federal, State, and Local guidelines. The minimum requirements for experience and education are:

  • Education equivalent to graduation from High School
  • Two-year experience with inventory or supply clerk experience desired.
  • Experience with medical inventory or medical supply clerk experience is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Software

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work full-time 
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screening (background check, drug tests, and references) 
  • Must be able to pass all program mandated health screenings 
  • Must be eligible to work in US 

Physical Standards:

Positions in this class are typically situated in a standard medical office environment with constant interruptions. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibility which may include the following: sitting for extended period of times, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. This position utilizes office machines (e.g., computers, adding machines, printers, copiers, scanners, etc.) and requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate them all. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone, bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to file materials or sort out delivery merchandise. Frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing from 10lbs to 70 plus lbs.

Synopsis Of Job Function:

Under the direction of the CFO or designee, the IC provides or performs a variety of inventory assistant duties involving submitting of department orders; receive department orders, and distributing orders to appropriate departments. Maintains the Inventory department by keeping it organized and making sure that all the orders are put in correct isles;  

Characteristics:

An IC performs in an environment that demands extreme flexibility in dealing with physicians, management, outside vendors, and staff members of many different cultural backgrounds and needs. The job demands that the IC be able to perform all of the routine duties of an IC working in a standard medical office. Satisfactory performance at this level requires the full knowledge, ability, and willingness to perform duties at the highest professional levels at all times. The IC must continuously exercise a strong commitment to the organizational goals of the Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center, while simultaneously exhibiting intelligence and sensitivity to extreme human needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Order all supplies and equipments for various departments as assigned by the supervisor
  • Coordinate delivery schedule and daily duties with direct supervisor
  • Receive deliveries and verify shipments for all department locations; distribute supplies to appropriate departments or area
  • Maintain inventory for assigned supplies and equipments
  • Conduct supply inventory as often as necessary; audit inventory on an annual basis
  • Research new products and equipments for the clinic as assigned by the supervisor
  • Perform a variety of general clerical duties, including filing and data input
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
  • Maintains and stocks office supplies as requested
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to the central supply room and the organization
  • Maintains personal composure and integrity under stressful conditions
  • Help with company events including set-up /tear down as requested.
  • Possess manual dexterity for using tools for general maintenance

Qualifications:

Knowledge Base:

  • Principles and practices of general and medical supply ordering
  • Some medical terminology
  • Modern office procedures, method and computer equipment
  • Methods and procedures of taking inventory
  • Basic arithmetic, procedures to check and record invoices

Skills:

  • Information gathering and input
  • Providing accurate and timely response in critical events or work requests
  • Cooperating  with the physicians and coworkers
  • Remaining calm with patients and other parties under stressful conditions
  • Operate a ten-key adding machine by touch
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately
  • Telephone techniques and etiquette
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal formats 
  • Perform multiple tasks in a timely manner
  • Perform efficiently in a high pressure setting

  • Identify and solve routine problems encountered in the central supply office
  • Meet deadlines and remain on timelines
  • Work independently in the absence of supervisor
