JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician has responsibility for assisting in all aspects of the drug distribution, billing and patient record keeping processes in the provision of Pharmaceutical Care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Interprets prescriptions, enters data, and prepares prior authorization forms as an agent of the providers.

Performs clerical functions.

Maintains departmental systems and records.

Complies with Standards of Employee Conduct
- Participates in department and hospital committees and quality improvement teams.
- Provides training/orientation for new employees as needed
- Operates department Equipment
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on -one and in small groups to customers and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to interpret graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Considerable initiative is required to complete the work and be successful in the position.
- Judgment is required to minimize costly errors and harm to patients.
- Access to confidential patient information requires discretion and judgment.
- Must have good clerical and organizational skills.
- Must maintain continuous concentration, organization and judgment to prevent loss of revenue or injury to others.
What You Will Need
High School diploma or GED. Employee with pharmacy technician experience preferred. Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
Must be licensed or qualify for license in the State of Indiana and Kentucky. Requires Certified Pharmacy Technician designation within 1 year of employement.
